New Hillsborough Inquests
Finally after all the years of suffering when 96 Liverpool football fans - men, women and children - lost their lives on 15th April 1989, new inquests are to be held.
Following an application by the Attorney-General in December 2012, the High Court quashed the original verdicts and ordered fresh inquests to be held.
Lord Justice Goldring has been appointed as Assistant Coroner for South Yorkshire (East) and West Yorkshire (West) to carry out these fresh inquests. The new inquests hearings commenced on 31st March 2014 at 305 Bridgewater Place, Birchwood Park, Warrington, Cheshire, WA3 6XG.
The inquests are expected to last for a minimum of nine months.
For all information relating to the inquests, please visit the official Hillsborough Inquests website.
As these inquests have now started after all this time, let us now hope that justice will finally prevail and the families get all the answers they have wanted from day one - 25 years ago.
